After many years of working in various jobs in the industry field, Theresa started as a receptionist in a vet office 13 years ago and finally found what she loves to do. She especially enjoys getting to know clients and their pet families. Theresa was looking for a position with a hospital that is dedicated to enhancing the human/pet bond and feels like she has found that with Foster Park. Theresa was born in Belleville and has deep roots in her community. She is involved in Big Sisters and the Salvation Army Christmas Drive. She lives just north of Belleville with 4 cats; Indy, Oscar, Bernard and Miss Bianca as well as Berkley the Cocker Spaniel. Oh and her husband Allan too. Laura graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at St. Lawrence College in June of 2016. Laura grew up in the small town of Bancroft and dreamed of becoming a vet. In high school she was drawn to becoming a Vet Tech because she loved the hands on experiences, and the wide range of skills required of a Vet Tech. She has a special interest in the surgical aspect of veterinary medicine and is continuously improving her skills in that area. Laura is dedicated to the care of pets and that is evident in her passion for patient care for our hospitalized patients as well as pets here for other medical care. Her love of pets no doubt comes from her experiences with her own pet family. She shares her home in Bancroft with the love of her life, Noah, a Eskimo/Chihuahua mix and Nala, a Golden Retriever that has been her friend for many years. She also has 3 birds, Ariel, Loki and Olaf. When not at work , Laura loves to spend her time riding. Her family of pets also include two horses, Dahlia and Pepper.
Kayla grew up in Codrington and went to high school at ENSS. It was there that Kayla did a co-op at a local vet office and confirmed her love of animals and decided to make a career out of caring for them. She graduated from the Vet Assistant program at St. Lawrence college and we have been lucky to have her join our team. Her love of animals shows in her excellent care of our patients. Kayla loves all aspects of caring for pets but finds it very rewarding to use her knowledge to help people when their pet is ill. While volunteering at the Humane Society, Kayla met and fell in love with her beagle Sandy. Sandy developed Heartworm Disease and needed some extra loving care. Thanks to treatment and Kayla’s support she is now 12 years old and doing very well.
Demara started her career as a Vet Assistant during a high school co-op and knew right away that she was on the right career path. She has developed her skills over the years and her deep bond with pets inspires her to continue to learn and share her knowledge with clients and their pets. Demara grew up in the village of Stirling and spent all of her spare time riding horses both for leisure and competitively. Although she still rides, the majority of her time is spent with her very active German Short Haired Pointers. Demara and her partner Brent share their home with Si and Vogue.
We are happy to have Freedom join the FPPH team as one of our Kennel Assistants. Freedom was born in Thunder Bay but has spent the majority of her life here in Belleville. Freedom’s favourite childhood friend was her dog Thor. This bond with Thor developed into a love for all animals and this shows everyday in the care she provides for pets. Freedom shares her home with Dawson, the adorable Bulldog. She recently adopted a kitten that had been in our hospital for medical care. We are happy that Jazz has found such a loving owner.
